Gunmen Kill One German, Abduct Another in Ogun

Four gunmen have shot dead an expatriate identified to be a German, and also abducted another man believed to be of the same nationality, at Ogbere town in Ijebu East area of Ogun State.

The two victims according sources were on their way to work at a Quarry site owned by road construction giant, Julius Berger when the hoodlums attacked them.


AfricanOutlookonline further gathered that, the two foreigners were driving towards their station on Friday morning, when the bandits waylaid them and started shooting sporadically. In the process bullets hit one of them, who reportedly died later


It was also learnt that, his colleague was immediately abducted and his whereabouts remain unknown as at Tuesday, time of filing this report


When contacted Deputy Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the story. He said the gunmen allegedly appeared from the bush, before tracking down the victims which led to the death of one of them, and abduction of other.


Hear him, "The victims were on their way to their work place, a quarry site somewhere in Ogbere when the hoodlums came out from the bush, to attack them. The hoodlums started shooting, and in the process shot one of the foreigners, who was later confirmed dead by the hospital."


He said, the other victim is still in custody of the abductors, but stated that police is working round the clock to ensure the safety of the abducted victim. The police image maker also gave further assurance that, the suspects would be apprehended soon.
