Our words and our actions are the vehicles we use to navigate our way through life and much like the regular road rules, the same rules apply for a safe and productive commute:
. Take good care of your vehicle
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body[a] and in your spirit, which are God’s.
. Be aware of current weather conditions (especially in Minnesota!)
[ Everything Has Its Time ] To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:
. Know where you're headed
So Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.
. Obey traffic rules, STOP, CAUTION, GO...
12 a land for which the LORD your God cares; the eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year.
13 ‘And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14 then I[a] will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil.
. Look before you turn
. Yield the 'right-of-way' when applicable
. Do not change lanes without indicating (properly and in a timely manner)
. Avoid ‘road rage’ at all cost
So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, For anger rests in the bosom of fools.
. Be aware that you have blind spot and look before you change lanes
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
. Do not drive while under the influence
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
. Do not exceed the set speed limit
And you said, “No, for we will flee on horses”— Therefore you shall flee! And, “We will ride on swift horses”— Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift! (for real!!! I love this one!)
. Do not overtake when you see solid lines dividing the road
. Yield to oncoming traffic
Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.
. DO NOT MULTITASK
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
Following all these rules greatly increase our chances of getting to our destination without mishap… May the Lord grant us grace!
