Global Football’s governing body, FIFA and its corporate partner SONY are supporting Search and Groom youth for development center in the implementation of the Siyakhona Skills project in Nigeria.

According to a statement by the organizers, the Siyakhona skills project was launched in 2010 as part of Sony’s CSR collaboration with FIFA through the “Football for Hope” of which Search and Groom was one of the participating organizations in the course of preparation towards the first ever “Football for Hope” Festival 2010 held in South Africa.

"Siyakhona is a training program aimed at teaching youths to tell stories of their environment, culture and lifestyle using photography and videos as seen through their eyes," the statement said.

"This program is a form of promoting Media Information and Literacy (MIL) among young people, which in turn exposes their talent and creativity with core activities including football training matches, workshop and photo exhibition. The first phase of the program will commence in Ijora, a suburb of Lagos, taking turns to Agege, Ikorodu and Otto-Iddo in early 2014."

Program Officer, Ms Lovette Ochicha revealed that SONY has already handed over video and photography cameras and other related equipment to support the program, to Search and Groom youth for development centre. She further said the program will run in Ijora, Agege and Ikorodu Centres in Lagos starting from January 2014.
