Nigeria Football Supporters Club President Scouts For Successor

The pioneer and incumbent President General, Nigeria Football Supporters Club,Dr Rauf Ladipo is now actively scouting for a successor who will take over the association's mantle of leadership from him, as he prepares to retire.

The nation number soccer supporter gave this hint in Abeokuta recently while featuring as the Monthly Guest Forum of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun State Chapter. Ladipo who is now planning to retire has been at the helm of affairs of the association since its inception twenty-three years ago.

 

"Dr Rauf Ladipo is getting old. Am getting old and I know this, I recognise this. I'm looking and working towards a successor," he affirmed.

 

Accompanied by his Ghana Football Supporters Club President counterpart, Abraham Dauchus, he however, noted that his successor must be a person who has 100 percent passion for the club and soccer. He further emphasized, that since inception of the club over two decades ago, he has remained the sole financier, stressing that the club is not and should not be seen as money making venture for whoever has to lead it.

 

Ladipo, in view of this, prayed for a God-choosen successor after him, who would be genuinely committed and dedicated to the growth of the club and football development in the country. "I have been personally spending my money to run the club in the last twenty-three years. I am of the opinion that there are number of qualified successors, but must be somebody who has 100 percent passion," he emphasised.

 

In a related development, the association leader advised the nation's soccer ruling body to avoid distractions and power tussle, which he noted contributed to some bitter experiences the nation's soccer faces‬.
