Double Murder-Suicide: Farmer Beheads Wife, Daughter, Commits Suicide in Ogun

A 46-year old farmer, Olubusayo Sunday, has beheaded his wife, daughter, and equally committed suicide in Onigbedu town situated in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State.

The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations officer, Muyiwa Adejobi who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Thursday in Abeokuta, said the ugly development has been linked to matrimonial crisis between the man and his late wife.

 

 Adejobi said police detectives attached to Ewekoro Division of the state has commenced investigation into the tragedy which he said occurred on Wednesday.

 

According to him, "The man beheaded his wife and daughter in his Onigbedu house, and committed suicide by stabbing and setting himself ablaze after the ugly incident at about 1315hrs (local time)."

 

Adejobi further added that,the man attempt to commit suicide was noticed when he stabbed himself and wanted to jump into a well near his house having set fire on himself but was prevented and rescued by his neighbors who later found out that he had done a great havoc in his house.

 

He said the man was later rushed to the hospital where laterdied, adding that as at the time of filing this report, the corpses of all victims had being deposited at State Hospital, Ifo.

 

The command added that the deceased wife, Oyewole Sunday, was 40 years old, while the daughter, Esther Sunday was 3 years old, stating that no one or any member of the deceased family or neighbors could intimate the police with the cause of the incident.

 

Adejobi said the last statement the man made before he died, in the presence of police detectives suggested that there was a quarrel between him and his late wife.  He disclosed that a knife and one cutlass, stained with blood, suspected to have been used in beheading his wife and daughter, have been recovered from his house (the crime scene).

 

"The Commissioner of Police Ogun State Ikemefuna Okoye was taken aback when he received the report of the ugly incident and has directed that the matter be transferred to the department of criminal investigation Eleweran, Abeokuta for thorough investigation," Adejobi stated.
