Ogun Police Arrest Diabolical Fraudsters in Abeokuta

 Ogun State Police Command said it has on Tuesday arrested some fraudsters who hypnotize their victims to dupe them of their belongings at Ibara area Abeokuta Ogun State Capital.

Detectives attached to Ibara Division of the command apprehended the suspects when a woman, who was one of their victims, reported her ordeals in the hands of the suspects to the police after they had collected some amount of Money and valuables from her and many others.

 

The  Public Relations Officer of the Command Muyiwa Adejobi who confirmed the incident said the suspects operate in commercial vehicles, taxis or cabs branded with Ogun State colors, belonging to the suspects and their friends.  According to him, the gang look for passengers and lured them into discussions on dirty or attractive dubious business which will eventually compel any 'careless' passengers into joining the discussion and thus end up duping them.

 

"They have been in the business for a very long time. The kingpin confessed that he used to operate in Lagos before he moved down to Abeokuta Ogun State for his operations," Adejobi stated.

 

He disclosed the identities of the suspects as including Olabode Toyese, (41), Abayomi Odeleye, (42), and Kazeem Adeyemo, (29), adding that they are from Ondo, Ekiti and Ogun States respectively.

 

"They have all confessed to the crime and many others and presently assisting the command in its investigation," Adejobi stressed. "The command wishes to sensitize the general public on this modus operandi being used by these fraudsters within the state and to alert the general public to be careful so that they will not fall victim of them any more," he said.

 

He added, "The Commissioner of Police Ogun State Ikemefuna Okoye has directed thorough investigation into the case and make sure other members of the syndicate are apprehended and the matter be charged to court so as to make the suspects face the full wrath of the law; and for the general public to be aware of such and guard against any further occurrence in Ogun State.

 

"The Commissioner also appeals to the people of Ogun State to share any useful information with the police so as to assist the command in the matter and curb such crimes and/or vices in the state," Adejobi concluded.
