CARPENTER COMMITS SUICIDE IN ABEOKUTA

A resident carpenter in Abowaba street located in Itori-Odo area, of Abeokuta the Ogun State Capital, who has been identified as Samsudeen Akinwunmi has committed suicide.

Africanoutlookonline gathered from the community that, the deceased was reported to have left a note, alleging that his concubine (name unknown) duped him of an amount running into millions of naira.

 

Similarly, it was also learnt that, on the fateful day, (Saturday) he was seen at about 2.15pm sending his children on an errand, probably to get them out of the way before he later killed himself. Speaking with our correspondent, some residents of the area, alleged that the carpenter hung himself on the ceiling fan of his room, where his remains were later discovered.

 

According to further findings, hours after the ugly incident, his remains were later brought down and taken away by the police and subsequently deposited in the hospital morgue as at the time of filing this report. However, a Community leader in the area and Alapinni of Egbaland, Chief Omolaso Ojedele while reacting described the incident as a tragedy.

 

Africanoutlookonline correspondent further report that police personnel who visited the scene, promised that the matter would be investigated. Further efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, Muyiwa Adejobi on the incident proved abortive as at the time of filing this report
